It was a trip up to my wife's familie's farm to visit the in laws before they left for Arizona. Two miniature schnauzers had a busy day of running around and barking. They needed a stop outside before loading up for the trip home to the city. The in laws didn't want the dogs making a deposit to close to the house, to keep people from getting an unwanted hitch hiker on their shoes. Taking the dogs farther away from the house than the normal path also meant going farther than the motion light could detect. While the dogs were taking their walk, I looked up and saw a thousand white diamonds on a black background.
I spent a few extra minutes taking it all in. I looked for familiar sights, and found a few. There were more that were no longer familiar, since it had been almost 20 years since I had last looked intently at the night sky. A spark was relight that night, and old acquaintances were waiting to be re made.
